He reported that the car drives “wonderfully” and that everything is “tight and dialed” with no major repairs needed. In fact, an editor at Road and Track recently purchased a Honda S2000 with over 300,000 miles on the odometer. But there have been many reports of S2000 owners easily clocking 300,000 miles or more on their cars without any major issues. Of course, when the car gets in the 150,000-mile range, other maintenance items like a clutch replacement, brakes, and possibly struts could need attention. For further proof, CarZing reports that the only maintenance needed is an oil change every 6,000 miles or so. Repair Pal even rated the Honda S2000 with four out of five stars on its reliability scale. What’s even better is that the S2000 is still a Honda, which means that replacement parts are still readily available and relatively inexpensive. Despite its high-revving engine and sporty suspension, the S2000 has proven to be a reliable means of transportation, whether you use it daily or as a weekend warrior. Then drop the jacks until the front of the subframe hangs on the front bolts and the rear drops down to the rear bolts to give you a straight shot with a 36' extension at the 17mm bolts on the rear top of the housing. Those in the S2000 community are familiar with the DIY venting of the stock hood by making cutouts using the hood skeleton as a template. Aside from weight, the benefit of the OEM hood is perfect fitment and no fear of the latch breaking.
While we were going to swap the transmission anyway, I decided that even though I only had 55K miles on her, it would make good sense to replace the clutch as well. In fact, many of the carbon fiber hoods on the market for the S2000 actually weigh more than the stock hood. Honda has always been known for producing some of the most reliable vehicles on the planet and the S2000 is no exception. Jonathan had already done several clutch, transmission and diff jobs before and as a fellow dual S2000 owner, I felt confident he could do the job right. A row of lowered Honda S2000s | Joe Santos
